Chen Chow Brasserie opens
Chen Chow Brasserie -- featuring Eurasian cuisine, a sushi bar and a small dance floor -- has opened in the space formerly occupied by Pampas Churrascaria at 260 N. Old Woodward. We hear good things, but haven't yet visited. Anybody been there? How is it?It’s nothing but a bunch of poseurs, and Crave isn’t even here yet. God, what has happened to this town????
Posted by anonomist on 12/01 at 07:14 PMTotally overated....Their service was terrible and the food was awful. It tastes like dressed up chop suey. If you like crave sushi, which i think sucks, then you will love it here. I heard that they stole the head chef from there. I wouldn’t waste your time or money.
Posted by JeffG on 12/04 at 12:03 AMI thought the place was great! The food and sushi rolls are the best around. The service was also very prompt and courteous. I’ve heard all great reviews about this place.

Posted by on 12/19 at 03:44 AMThe dining room is indeed absolutely beautiful, but the food is far from beauty. The filet looked like it was prepared by Jack The Ripper as it had 4 slashes in it !?!? It came with wasabi mashed potatoes with zero structure and even less flavor and seven rocks disguised as vegetables. The 1980s confetti garnish around the plate was of DRIED parsley and paprika. And i’m still picking pomegranate seeds out of my teeth. It My wife ordered the Red Snapper, I mean the Tilapia, and it came as two giant fish sticks with a chunky ketchup plus seven more rocks. The sushi was raw fish on overcooked rice. Chen Chow should really get their act together. If you want to be seen this is the place to be. But if you want a great meal go to Cameron’s. What a joke.

Posted by on 01/02 at 06:34 AMHave been 3 times now (to eat, not just to be seen). Food and service were really bad during the first 2 weeks. They improved a little service wise but the food still left much to be desired. More recently(End of Jan), the service and food were much better(they need to do something about the amount of smoke in the dining room too). Apparently there is an actual sushi chef there now. The rolls held together for the first time. They are also starting an entirely new menu starting Feb 4. Also, new hours so as not to repeat the Blue Martini fiasco. This info was all gained via wait staff. Personal opinion is that the sushi does not hold a candle to Crave. Perhaps it will continue to improve.
Posted by hamguy on 02/02 at 11:39 PMThey allow smoking and it ruins your meal. The food is expensive and it tasted like cigarette smoke.
