Skip ahead with Comcast remote

Comcast left the 30-second skip-ahead function off its DVR remotes in deference to advertisers, but you can add it with a few simple steps.

1. Press the CABLE button at the top of the remote.
2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the CABLE button blinks twice.
3. Enter 994 on the keypad. The CABLE button will blink twice again.
4. Press (but do not hold) the SETUP button.
5. Enter 00173 (code for 30-second skip function) on the keypad.
6. Press the LOCK button to program function into LOCK button.

You're done. To skip ahead 30 second, simply press LOCK.
